 National Essay Contest On The Theme Gandhian Perspective Of Development By Council For Transforming India

On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Council for Transforming India is organizing a National Essay Contest on the theme Gandhian Perspective of Development, to promote and develop the ability of youth to think on the relevance of his principles and ideology in current society.

Council for Transforming India (CTI Organization) is a youth-run non-governmental organization registered under Telangana Societies Registration Act and with NITI Ayog based out of Hyderabad; working on promoting ideas and ideals of holistic development and transformation of the nation. CTI works closely with Government Organizations and Institutes towards various issues of concerns ranging from the environment to sustainable development, to road safety, education, economy and so on. In light of this, CTI began to plan its goals and work towards them by adopting a lifecycle approach of development, focusing on various issues of global concern.

As part of National Essay Contest on Gandhian Perspective of Development, CTI encourages the participant’s freedom to analyze and convey their thoughts on the same. The topics must be chosen from/inspired by his life.

The idea of invoking the thoughts on the relevance of Gandhian Ideology in youth was given by Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu Garu, in the Team met him on 11th June 2019 at Vice President House, New Delhi. After a month of discussion, we had come up with this idea of organizing a National Essay Writing Contest.

The contest was launched by Former Member of Parliament & CTI Patron, Smt. Kalvakuntla Kavitha Garu. This contest commenced on August 9th 2019 (Quit India Day) and is open for submissions till September 20th 2019. Winners of the Contest will be declared on October 2nd - Gandhi Jayanthi.

Within a week of its launch, we happen to spread the word across the nation and grab the attention of various eminent personalities including Shree Vijay Bhai Rupani, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat and Dr.Kiran Bedi, Hon'ble Lt.Governor of Puducherry.

Hon’ble CM of Gujarat conveyed his heartiest wishes to participants for a brainstorming competition to come up with the modern need of development in this occasion of 150th Year Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He wishes this will create an opportunity for the youth of India to explore the Gandhian Stream of thoughts and the outcome will prove to be pivotal in the development process. Madam Kiran Bedi mentioned "It is ideal to recall the Gandhian Path and his ideas for development on his 150th Birth Anniversary celebration. The teachings of Mahatma are very relevant to the present-day society and to the future generation, as well." Hon'ble LG conveyed her best wishes to Team CTI and the participating Youth.

  • Top five entries shall be awarded Gandhi merchandise worth 10k
  • Top ten entries shall be awarded a certificate of merit.
  • Participation certificate in essay competition shall be awarded, via email, to all the participants upon the successful submission of essay meeting the submission criteria.
